About – Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP) Shop

The Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP), a non-profit organization, was launched in March 2014 by a group of concerned parents and passionate individuals who due to limited support and resources available locally, realized a need for a platform of those with Down syndrome. KDSP was formed with the mission to advocate the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome living in Karachi and aims to provide them with the opportunity to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

True to its vision of helping people with Down syndrome lead fulfilling lives and in light of the nearly negligible opportunities available to them, KDSP runs several enrichment programs as part of its Enrichment and Skills Development program designed to identify and hone skills and talents that an individual may possess. These programs are divided into child and adult enrichment programs and are offered at a subsidized rate or no cost.

Sewing and Stitching, Weaving, Block / screen Printing and Paper Craft, programs cater to the development of particular skills and hobby building of adults with Down syndrome. The adults learn to make handicrafts which are then sold through different avenues and full proceeds of the sales are returned to the participants to give them a sense of financial empowerment as well as to encourage a passion for entrepreneurship.

All products are made with love by crafters with Down syndrome!
